Bio On Odie Crook,
Odie (Joel) Crook is one of five brothers and five sisters, a native of the East Side of Youngstown, Ohio. At an early age he developed his niche. Unlike most, he chose music as his motivating force. As a very young East High student he joined his first band , The Dantes, and became enthusiastic about being a singer.
The sweet sound of soul music expanded his horizons with such bands as the Soulsations, Mojo, Talisman, and The Lawrence Brothers And Sisters. The ever changing musical style's high demand for rock and roll led him to one of the most talented groups, Left End. The area's abundance of raw talent and passion for music led Odie onward with other bands such as You & I, and The All Star Rhythm and Blues Band.
A fusion band with the ability to cross all modes of music and draw together the best of the best was, without question, Brainchild. They not only excelled as entertainers, but this highly energetic and stellar core of friends and performers created "Bands and Friends". This community minded group of individuals has stepped forward to bring about what will be a landmark for all music lovers. As a family we are proud to be associated with the first annual benefit for Odie's son, Adam.
Odie is presently suffering from squamous cell carcinoma cancer. The 4th stage disease has expanded throughout both lungs and has had an adverse effect on his liver. Experimental drugs and a variety of nutritional supplements keep him stable and in good spirits. He remains at his residence in Girard, Ohio and is being cared for by family, friends, and Hospice of the Valley.
